The LUTC Tourism Fair 2019, organized by the Leading University Tourist Club (LUTC), was held on 26th and 27th September 2019 at Leading University, Sylhet, marking a significant milestone in promoting regional tourism. Timed to coincide with World Tourism Day, the event focused on showcasing Sylhet’s immense natural and cultural beauty to both local and international audiences.
Inauguration and Seminar
The event was inaugurated with a grand opening ceremony followed by a discussion seminar titled “সিলেটের পর্যটন শিল্পের সম্ভাবনা” (Prospects of the Tourism Industry in Sylhet). The seminar brought together respected academics, tourism experts, government officials, and law enforcement representatives to discuss strategies and challenges for advancing tourism in the Sylhet region.

The session was chaired by Md. Mahbubur Rahaman, Acting Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM), LU, and co-ordinated by the enthusiastic members of the Leading University Tourist Club (LUTC).
Event Highlights
- Participation from 12+ Tourism Entities: Travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, and other stakeholders from across the country participated and set up interactive stalls.
- Cultural Showcase & Career Building: Students engaged in vibrant cultural displays, travel photography exhibits, and informative sessions on building careers in tourism and hospitality.
- Student Engagement: Hundreds of students from different departments actively attended, interacted with industry experts, and gained valuable insights into tourism development.
Objective & Vision
The event’s primary goal was to raise awareness about the tourism potential of Sylhet and to promote academic-industry collaboration. It also aimed to inspire students to explore career opportunities in tourism and hospitality management and to establish Sylhet as a vibrant travel destination in Bangladesh.
