During the holy month of Ramadan — a time of compassion, charity, and reflection — the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management at Leading University, in association with the Leading University Tourist Club, undertook a noble initiative to support the most vulnerable members of society. At a time when the global COVID-19 pandemic had severely impacted daily lives and livelihoods, especially in 2020, the plight of the underprivileged and the disabled in Sylhet became even more dire.
Recognizing their hardship, faculty members and students came together to raise donations and distribute essential relief materials to nearly fifty families in need, consisting of both disabled individuals and economically disadvantaged residents of Sylhet city. With health safety in mind, the distribution was carried out following proper hygiene measures to ensure safety for both volunteers and recipients.
This heartfelt gesture not only provided material support but also offered emotional comfort and dignity to those struggling in silence. The initiative reflects the university community’s sense of social responsibility and solidarity in times of crisis.
May the joy seen on their faces, the smiles of gratitude, and the spirit of giving remind us all of the true essence of Ramadan. Their happiness is our happiness — and together, we build a more compassionate and inclusive society.
